Lots of GESF members are active in the Comparative and International Education Society’s (CIES) Globalization and Education Special Interest Group (G&E SIG) so we are keen to bring to your attention this important initiative. It is the second annual Globalization and Education SIG Book Award competition – which is outlined below by the SIG:
“The Book Award reflects G&E’s mandate to recognize and expand the reach of theoretically rich research addressing timely and provocative topics in our sub-field.Nominations must be relevant to our subfield—that is, they must address issues related to globalization and education, and must have a publication date in 2016 (page proofs of books scheduled for 2016 publication after the nomination date are acceptable, but must include a letter from the publisher confirming the anticipated publication date of 2016). While the authors who are nominees do not need to be members of the SIG upon nomination, it is expected that the winner of the prize will register for CIES, join the SIG and be present at the conference to accept the award. The winner will also receive a $200 honorarium to help defray these costs.”
To nominate a work, please submit an electronic PDF copy of the book to Rolf Straubhaar, chair of the book award committee, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please also include a separate cover letter indicating that it is a submission for the Globalization and Education SIG Book Award. In the cover letter, please include the author’s name, mailing address, email address and telephone number. Self-nominations are accepted.
All submissions must be received by 10 October 2016.
Any inquiries may also be directed to email@example.com
